{"id":467,"date":"2009-01-03T22:22:52","date_gmt":"2009-01-04T02:22:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dandunn.org\/blog\/?p=467"},"modified":"2009-01-04T11:04:30","modified_gmt":"2009-01-04T15:04:30","slug":"changing-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dandunn.org\/blog\/2009\/01\/changing-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I like the celebration of the new year as a point of reflection. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s a milestone, like a birthday, but one that we all share. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s a time to consider what has past. \u00c2\u00a0So, reflect I will. \u00c2\u00a02008 was a busy year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I went to Tokyo.<\/li>\n<li>I became an uncle.<\/li>\n<li>I quit my old job, and started a new one.<\/li>\n<li>I managed to visit a number of friends that I hadn&#8217;t seen in ages, Doug, Darienne, Amy, and Glen to name a few.<\/li>\n<li>I bought a house.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There were also a couple of changes in my personal life. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m not quite ready to make them a part of my blog, but feel free to ask, and I&#8217;ll tell you.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a fan of New Year&#8217;s resolutions. \u00c2\u00a0If there&#8217;s something in my life that needs changing, the time to start is when I&#8217;m ready (the sooner the better). \u00c2\u00a0Waiting for a new year seems silly. \u00c2\u00a0I don&#8217;t like the idea that a new year means a new outlook on life. \u00c2\u00a0My outlook is always as up-to-date as I can make it, thank you very much.<\/p>\n<p>I \u00c2\u00a0have one thought for 2009 that comes perilously close to a resolution. \u00c2\u00a0I lost 15 pounds in 2006, ending the year at 249. \u00c2\u00a02007 and 2008 both ended with the same number (thanks only to a 5 pound loss in December!). \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;d like to make some more progress in 2009 &#8211; let&#8217;s call it another 15 pounds.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Happy New Year!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I like the celebration of the new year as a point of reflection. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s a milestone, like a birthday, but one that we all share. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s a time to consider what has past. \u00c2\u00a0So, reflect I will. \u00c2\u00a02008 was a busy year.
