{"id":710,"date":"2010-02-20T19:57:40","date_gmt":"2010-02-20T23:57:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dandunn.org\/blog\/?p=710"},"modified":"2010-02-20T19:57:40","modified_gmt":"2010-02-20T23:57:40","slug":"running-the-boston-marathon-for-autism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dandunn.org\/blog\/2010\/02\/running-the-boston-marathon-for-autism\/","title":{"rendered":"Running the Boston Marathon for Autism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know a handful of you read that title and said, &#8220;DAN IS GOING RUNNING?&#8221; \u00c2\u00a0Don&#8217;t worry &#8211; I&#8217;m not that rash. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m just blogging about someone else who is actually doing the running.<\/p>\n<p>My friend Melisa Thorne (former colleague at eRoom) is doing the hard work. \u00c2\u00a0She&#8217;s running in the Boston Marathon. \u00c2\u00a0She&#8217;s running for the Flutie Foundation for Autism. \u00c2\u00a0She&#8217;s collecting donations to support their work for families with autistic children.<\/p>\n<p>I know you all give to charities, and I know you all pick worthy ones. \u00c2\u00a0But it can&#8217;t hurt for me to give this one a nudge. \u00c2\u00a0Melisa is a great person, and she&#8217;s running for a great cause. \u00c2\u00a0If you haven&#8217;t done your charity donations yet, I hope you consider sending a few dollars her way. \u00c2\u00a0You can make a donation at\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstgiving.com\/melisathorne\">http:\/\/www.firstgiving.com\/melisathorne<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s Melisa&#8217;s latest update:<\/p>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">My training has been going well and I am feeling strong and healthy. \u00c2\u00a0I have 18 miles scheduled for Sunday. \u00c2\u00a0While I&#8217;m a little nervous, I&#8217;m pleased that it looks like the temperature will be greater than 20 degrees. Finally! \u00c2\u00a0Heck, I may even be able shed a layer or two. \u00c2\u00a0If you&#8217;re in the Stoneham area on Sunday morning, honk if you see me.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I wanted to personally thank everyone who has donated to The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism in support of my run. \u00c2\u00a0It us such a great cause and I am honored to be part of their team. \u00c2\u00a0Because of your generosity, I am halfway to my goal.
